September 25, 2009 Louisiana Sportsman September 2009
The September issue of Louisiana Sportsman features three of my articles with supporting photography. I had fun working with Captain C.T. Williams III on Mr. Gone, Captain Theophile Bourgeois on In The Bag and Captain Jack Payne on Gold Rush.
- Mr. Gone – With the closing of the MRGO in St. Bernard Parish, I got in the boat with Captain CT Williams with Team Big Fish to see just how the new rock dam is changing fishing out of Hopedale and Shell Beach.
- In The Bag – The typical cajun-style Cast-and-Blast is totally dependent upon ducks being around. Captain Theophile Bourgeois with Bourgeois Charters has figured out that the shooting part of a Cast-and-Blast is a lot more consistent with pen-raised quail.
- Gold Rush – Since I’m not a huge fan of fishing gold spoons for redfish, I accepted Captain Jack Payne’s invitation to see them in work on the water out of Sweetwater Guide Service and Marina out of Delacroix. Payne put my son and me on a hot spoon bite, and made me change my tune about spoons.
